Fire swept through Penmarks Building in Lusaka along Cairo Road opposite Kwacha House this afternoon, destroying property worthy thousands of Kwacha as business around the centr al business came to stand still as ZESCO switched off power.

The QFM News crew that rushed to the scene found fire fighters from Lusaka City Council (LCC) and Zambia Air Force (ZAF) struggling to put the fire off.

The Qfm news Crew that arrived at the scene around 13:30hrs found fire fighters both from ZAF and LCC struggling to put the fire off as they ran out of water on three occasions.

And the fire engine that was stationed at Puma filing station next to Permark building remained stagnant for close to an hour as the expert who knows how to operate it was not on the scene.

It took close to three hours for the two fire fighters to stabilize the situation as onlookers remained shocked at the pace at which the fire fighters were responding to the emergency.

And a worker from Pernamark Stationery Limited, who preferred to remain unknown, told Qfm News that the fire started around 11hrs and the fire fighters arrived at the scene an hour late.

He says the fire started from the warehouse and all the items that were in it were destroyed.

And information reaching QFM news is that the owner of Pernamark Stationery Limited, who is an Indian, died last week.

The cause of the fire was not yet established by broadcast time.

Pipo b4 we conclude on such a matter,lets ask ourselves if we have ever taken a keen interest in knowing or finding out abt hw firefighters work and in what condition they work in.some of u even jst the fire emergency line simuiziba bt nuu kungo kamba vaupuba.wait until yo house or property catches fire,thats when u appreciate the work they do.
