Taxi operators in Kasama have accused traffic police and the road transport and safety agency (RTSA) of carrying out operations to impress Home Affairs Minister Ngosa Simbyakula.

Taxi drivers told Mano News that they were shocked that the law enforcement agencies swung into action and pounced on motorists when the minister was coming to Kasama.

Others however charged that the officers from RTSA and police traffic department were selective in their operations.

And Foundation for Justice, Integrity and Fairness-FOJIFA Vice President Evaristo Chongo has also questioned the operation by Traffic police and RTSA.

But when contacted, both Police and RTSA dispelled the claims by taxi operators.

The duo of Deputy Regional Police Commissioner, Alfred Nawa and RTSA Station Manager, Martin Chanda described the exercise as routine operation.

Home Affairs Minister Ngosa Simbyakula has arrived in Kasama ahead of the commissioning of Luwingu State Prison tomorrow.
