Kawambwa, August 28, 2014, ZANIS —–   A Traditional Leader in Luapula Province has commended Government for properly managing this year’s crop marketing season in Kawambwa District.

Chief Chama of the Chishinga people in Kawambwa District has since commended District Commissioner, Ivo Mpasa and Food Reserve Agency (FRA) area Manager, Thomson Mbuzi for coming up with a strategy that has seen most farmers to sell their produce within a day.

The traditional leader said this when Kawambwa District Commissioner, Ivo Mpasa and Heads of Government Departments paid a courtesy call on him at his Mulunda palace yesterday.

Chief Chama said the strategy of Farmers selling through their co-operatives has greatly reduced on the queues, adding this year there has not been reports of Farmers spending nights in the cold in an attempt to sale their Maize.

He said the payments are also not taking very long as some of the Farmers have since started receiving payment for the supplied Maize.

The Chief said if the trend continues it would further improve the productivity of the Local Farmers.

He said he has noticed an increase in yields each year among most Farmers, which he said is testimony of the good Government Policies.

And Kawambwa District Commissioner, Ivo Mpasa assured the Chief that Government is determined to work closely with Traditional Leaders to foster national development.
