Two Tanzanians nabbed for possessing 200 logs of Mukula tree

Police in Isoka District in Muchinga Province have nabbed two Tanzanian nationals for trafficking in 200 logs of mukula tree.

Muchinga Province Police Deputy Commissioner Bonny Kapeso confirmed the incident to ZANIS today.


Mr Kapeso said the two Tanzanian truck drivers were nabbed after the truck carrying the mukula timber broke down 40 kilometres from Chinsali near Isoka district.

He identified the two as Robert Ephraim Shayo aged 24 and Godfrey Shayo aged 23 both of Dar-ee salaam Tanzanian.

Mr Kapeso said police found 200 logs of Mukula timber in a Scania truck registration number UAH 251V T 544BRL.

He said the incident occurred on Monday 25 August, 2014 at about 06:30 hours.

Mr. Kapeso added that the duo have since been charged with Environmental Degradation and will appear in court soon.
