ZNUT welcomes art re-introduction

Lusaka, 22 August, 2014, ZANIS—The Zambia National Union Of Teachers (ZNUT) has welcomed the move by government to re-introduce art subjects in schools countrywide.

ZNUT Secretary General Secretary Newman Bubala has described the exercise as a positive way forward in the education sector.

Mr Bubala told ZANIS in a telephone interview in Lusaka today that the move will enable pupils to be self employed in the  future by sharpening the art skills upon undertaking such subjects.

He further noted that the introduction of these subjects will help eradicate the issue of unemployment in the country adding that the move will also provide employment opportunities for many art teachers across the country.

Government recently called for the re-introduction of arts subjects in schools country wide such as needle work and home craft to enable the education sector produce school leavers with life skills that will make enable them contribute to national development.
