Luanshya District Commissioner Harold Mbaulu has implored civil servants in the area  to support and implement government development projects by remaining loyal and committed to the service.

Mr Mbaulu said the Patriotic Front government attaches great importance to development – based and poverty reduction programs as evidenced in the recently revised Sixth National Development Plan (SNDP) whose priority areas are poverty reduction and job creation.

Speaking during a meeting with government heads in the district, the DC advised all departments to apply the SNDP in their daily operations as it embraces the yardstick of the PF manifesto which is the central drive of all government projects.

Mr. Mbaulu further expressed disappointment at the alleged political interference in the issuance of contracts in government projects which he observed was disadvantaging local small scale contractors.

He warned that government was not going to condone any form of political interference in government projects such as the Pave Zambia 2000 road project which was a huge source of employment for the people of Luanshya  under the 50 kilometers road works.

He further appealed to government departments to support the SNDP and empower small scale contractors by awarding them contracts that would in turn improve their capacity and create jobs in the district.

Mr. Mbaulu has however warned contractors against any form of shoddy works in the implementation of district development projects.
