Youths want contracts to pay back loans to government

–Katete District Youth and Sport Sub- Committee has asked government and foreign contractors to consider sub-contracting them as part of empowerment in the district.

 

Chida Fabrications and wielding director Darius Chizela says youths in the district were happy with the support government to their welfare.

 

He however said the youths in the area would want to see more contracts given to them in order to help the repay their loans.

 

ZANIS reports that Mr. Chizela said this  during a meeting at the District Commissioners’ office in Katete, today.

 

Mr. Chizela who explained his concerns to the district commissioner said he was disappointed with the Dam Construction company PLEM who refused to offer him a contract to supply window and door flames adding that the company was importing such materials from neighboring Malawi.

 

Meanwhile Katete District Commissioner Colonel Peter Kunda Kaisa has urged the youths in the district who are involved in business to prove them by offering good quality services.

 

The District Commissioner said government wants to uplift the lives of youths and women in all parts if the country.

 

Colonel Kaisa however stated that people seeking contractors’ especially Zambian contractors need to do a good introspection as at times government has been disappointed by Zambian contractors. 

 

He noted that standards are one thing that Zambian contractors should first look at as quality of any product has the capacity to change and uplift businesses of any kind.

 

The District Commissioner said government wants to improve the economy through empowerment of youths and women as the trickle effect will result in the improved living standards.

 

He has however declared support to all youth entrepreneurs in the district and promised to call PLEM Construction Company who is working on the water dam to hear their views and reasons for importing materials that can locally be made.
