Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) Executive Director, Patricia Ndlovu, says it is cardinal for the menfolk to always behave responsibly in order for them to earn the respect they deserve.

Mrs Ndlovu told ZANIS News in an interview that it is unacceptable that a man of Chipili district has allegedly killed his three months-old baby boy after giving him Kachasu which is a highly potent local brew.

Mrs Ndlovu said that it is unfortunate that a father can give a highly toxic substance, such as Kachasu, to a baby despite knowing that the substance is not suitable for consumption even for adults.

She said the act demonstrates the maximum level of irresponsibility on the part of the man.

Mrs Ndlovu said it is depressing that despite calls from stakeholders on the behaviour of the male folk and their drinking habits, some are still drinking recklessly and committing weird offences.

She said it is disturbing that some people are still brewing Kachasu despite stringent measures by relevant authorities to deter would be-offenders.

The body of baby, Justine Nkunta Junior, is lying in Mansa Hospital Mortuary while the father Justine Nkunta, aged 36, is detained in police custody and will appear in court soon.

The mother of the child, Annie Chungu, 31, had in the morning of the material day gone to the field, leaving the baby in the care of his father who was at the time drinking kachasu.
