LUSAKA Aug 5 (Reuters) – Zambia’s central bank left its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 12 percent on Tuesday, saying the monetary tightening it implemented during the second quarter of the year was beginning to have an impact.

The bank however cautioned that inflationary pressures remained, citing the second round effects of an upward revision in electricity tariffs and a weaker kwacha currency. (Reporting by Chris Mfula; Writing by Stella Mapenzauswa; Editing by Joe Brock)
