The Police Command in Northern Province has described as unfortunate the alarming rate at which some people were committing suicide in Kasama.

Commenting on the three suicide cases committed in Kasama District last week, Commissioner; Charity Katanga told Mano News last evening that is imperative for a one with a challenge to seek counsel from elders than taking one’s life.

On Wednesday last week, a 45-year-old Man of Kondamu village in chief Munkonge’s area; John Mulenga took his life around 19:30 by hanging himself on a tree after his mother died.

And on Thursday, a 28-year-old student at Kasama’s Lukashya Trades Training Institute, Chisha Muselu committed suicide by jumping off the Lukashya Bridge after his girlfriend was snatched from him by another man.

While on Friday, a 27-year-old man of Kasama’s New-Town suburb identified as Brian Simutowe also committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree at a named nearby church.
