Govt. installs dual cast transmitter on the Copperbelt

 

Kitwe, July 26th, 2014, ZANIS —– Government has launched the installation of ZNBC dual cast transmitter in Kitwe aimed at improving the TV and Radio transmission in Copperbelt province.

 

Information and Broadcasting services minister Joseph Katema says the installation of the transmitters in the province is in line with government’s commitment to the general public’s  access to information.

 

Dr Katema says the media plays a critical role in the successful commemoration of the jubilee of independence.

 

The minister said this when he launched the installation of the ZNBC dual Cast Transmitter, in Kitwe today.

 

And Dr Katema challenged the media to be truthful in their reporting as they owe this to Zambians as opposed to propagating lies promoted by selfish individuals.

 

He further reiterated government commitment to effective media reforms that will promote a vibrant media that will participate in the development and governance of the country.

 

 

And speaking Earlier, ZNBC board member Cliven Katebe said the board was committed to the implementation of the digital migration programme.

 

 

Mr Katebe said the contractor for phase one of the project has already moved on site for installation of the transmitters.

 

 

He was optimistic that the country will meet the international deadline for the Digital Migration which is June, 2015.
