– DEC nabs 24 more in " Gaza" Chibolya compound

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested 24 people from Lusaka’s Chibolya Compound for trafficking in various quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

 

ZANIS reports that DEC public relations officer Theresa Katongo confirmed the development in a statement released in Lusaka, today.

 

Ms. Katongo named those arrested as Brian Chishimba,26, for trafficking in 275.1 grams of loose cannabis, Joe Mulenga, 25 for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 126.6 grams and 134 tablets of suspected diazepam.

 

Ms Katongo said those arrested and jointly charged is Frank Kachungu a bus driver and Modrick Mwelwa, 24, a bus conductor for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 172.3 grams.

 

Meanwhile, the commission has also arrested and jointly charged a 56 year old Congolese businessman and a 33 year old Zambian business woman for trafficking in cocaine.

 

Kalongo Wa Kalonga has been arrested and jointly charged with Yvonne Simwanza for trafficking in 52 rocks of cocaine. The duo were picked from their residence in John Laing compound.

 

In Muchinga Province, the commission has arrested Ruth Hellen Muwowo, 27, a business woman of Ntindi village in Nakonde for trafficking in 60 bundles of Mira weighing 27.2kg. The suspects were intercepted at a check point in Mpika.

 

All suspects will appear in court soon.
