Truck driver commits suicide after causing accident

A 42 year old man of Lusaka’s  George compound committed suicide after the truck he was driving  was involved in a road traffic accident along great north road in Serenje over the weekend.

Central Province Police Commending Officer Standwell Lungu confirmed the incidence to ZANIS in Serenje today.

Mr Lungu identified the deceased as Aaron Zulu, a driver of Freight liners in Lusaka  who was driving a truck registration number ALP 148 and a trailer ALM  8534T delivering cement from Ndola to Kasama.

He disclosed that the deceased failed to negotiate a curve and plugged into the bush at Mbaswa turn off one kilometer before Serenje turn off.

Mr Lungu narrated that the deceased upon realizing that he had caused an accident went into the bush and committed suicide using his belt.

Mr Lungu said that police have since informed the Freight company about the accident and the body of the deceased is lying in Serenje district hospital mortuary .
