Woman sent to High court for murder, dumping her baby in a pit latrine.

A Mumbwa magistrates court has committed a 30 year old woman of Shangala village to the High court for murder after dumping her nine months baby boy in a pit latrine.

Tamara Kasonga of Shangala Village in Senior Chief Shakumbila was on August 4, 2012 arrested by Police for child destruction after she dumped her baby in a toilet on July 29, 2012 .

Kasonga who has been appearing for mention in Mumbwa Magistrate court since her arrest had the case of child destruction dropped and charged with murder by the Director of Public Prosecutions on February 25 this year.

Presenting the certificate of committal before magistrate Musa Chanda Public Prosecutor Mukela Mutanuka said he had received instructions from the DPP to commit the accused to the High Court in Kabwe.

Mr. Mutanuka added that the DPP has also instructed to drop the charge of child destruction and charge the accused with murder.

 

And Magistrate Chanda has concerted the committal and instructed the state to take the accused to Kabwe High Court for commencement of trial.
