Local Government and Housing Deputy Minister, John Kufuna, has observed that emerging towns, such as Solwezi, are potential havens for the HIV and AIDS pandemic.
Mr Kufuna made the observation during a meeting on leadership for good governance in HIV/AIDS service delivery for the Local Government Association of Zambia and Alliance of Mayors and Municipal Leaders Initiative on Community Action on HIV/AIDS at Local level.
The Deputy Minister urged all local authorities to implement their plans to contribute to the United Nations strategy of having zero new infections and zero deaths resulting from HIV/AIDS.
And speaking at the same function National Aids Council Donor Coordinator and Public Relations Manager, Justine Mwiinga, said the pandemic in Zambia differs from district to district hence the need to invest in specific HIV andAIDS strategic investment plans for respective cities.
