Govt. opens multi-million kwacha post office in Shangombo District

– Government has opened the first ever multi million kwacha modern post office in Shangombo district of Western province.

 

And Information and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister Poniso Njeulu says that the people of Shangombo will guide the infrastructure jealously.

 

ZANIS reports that Transport, Works, Supply and Communication Minister Yamfwa Mukanga  officiated at the official opening of the post office, yesterday.

 

Mr. Mukanga says the opening of the post office in the area is a sign of government’s commitment to ensure development to remote district.

 

He stressed that the Patriotic Front (PF) government will not relent in its efforts to better the leaving standards of the people leaving in rural communities.

 

The minister said the modern post office will help to improve the economic livelihood of the people of Shangombo District as they will be able to communicate with the rest of the country and the world.

 

Mr Mukanga explained that the PF national agenda has prioritized the improvement of access to communication so as to bridge the gap on information in both in rural and urban areas.

 

The minister re-echoed governments pleasure to handover the modern post office building to the people of Shangombo.

 

And Information and Broadcasting Services Deputy Minister Poniso Njeulu says that the people of Shangombo will guide the infrastructure jealously.

 

Mr. Njeulu , who is also Sinjembela area member of parliament assured Mr. Mukanga  that the people in the area have been looking forward to the official opening of the building.

 

Meanwhile the Post Master General Mcpherson Chanda says Zampost is in a process  of re-branding all its post offices countrywide.

 

He said since most of the post offices are in a state of disrepair his management has decided to modernize and thereby rebrand the structures.

 

Mr Chanda said the Shangombo post office will offer a range of services to the community including internet services.
