GOVERNMENT has lifted the suspension of operations at Solar Explochem Zambia Limited in Chambishi following an explosion that left eight people injured in March.

Kalulushi Member of Parliament Rayford Mbulu said Government through the Mine Safety Department had lifted the suspension of operations at Solar Explochem Limited after thorough investigations into what led to the explosion.

Mr Mbulu, who is Labour Deputy Minister, said the safety department had cleared the mining company of  negligence.

He said in Kitwe yesterday that the safety department was satisfied with its findings and allowed the company to resume operations on May 6 this year.

”Even though I have not seen the Mine Safety Department report, there is a conviction that they were satisfied with the investigations and lifted the suspension on operations of the company. The company was cleared and is now fully in operation,” he said.

Mr Mbulu, however, warned management at the mining company that Government would not tolerate a repeat of what transpired and urged them to ensure the safety of all workers and the community at large.
