MOHAMMED Essa has taken an overnight lead in the 2014 Airtel Money Zambia International Rally Championship after finishing first in the Super Special Stage at Lusaka Motor Club in the Showgrounds.
Reigning Africa Rally Champion (ARC) Jassy Singh crashed out of the race after his Subaru N16 developed a mechanical fault in stage one of the super special stage.
Jassy will, however, start when the rally shifts to Chisamba, where the winner of the 488-kilometre race will be decided after the final round on Sunday.
Essa, who was navigated by Sajid Khan of Zimbabwe in a Subaru Impreza N16, clocked 00:03:27 minutes, ahead of his closest rival Chyness Gary of Zimbabwe, who timed 00:03:31 minutes.

  1. Jassy’s car is not Subaru N16, Chyness is not from Zimbambwe and Essa’s navigator is not Sajid Khan
