During the ceremony, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports thanked the Zambian team for their visit and expressing interest in the(GYEEDA), projects. He said he hoped that the team picked up the needed knowledge that would assist Zambia in deploying a similar or better scheme. Mr Chishimba Kambwili on his part thanked his host and said he and his teamed had particularly learnt a lot from the NYEP model on sanitation which is led by Zoom Lion. He promised his nation’s support for Ghana during the 2014 Brazil World Cup, and urged the Ghanaian team to bring glory to Africa.
Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah proudly introduced a few of Ghana’s World Cup ambassadors who were present at the dinner. They included Jackie Appiah, Tony Baffoe and Augustine Ahinful. Multiple award-winning and celebrated Ghanaian actress, Jackie Appiah was also officially unveiled as a Brazil 2014 World Cup ambassador at a ceremony during the ceremony. Although the actress was announced as one of the 15 ambassadors chosen by the Ministry of Youth and Sports last week, Jackie was out of the country on a project which took her to Rwanda, Malawai and Zambia. . Mr Chishimba Kambwili also called on Jackie Appiah and other players in the movie industry to forge a healthy relationship with the emerging movie industry of Zambia.
GYEEDA currently has over 30 modules operating across the country, some of which include; Youth in Security Services, Youth in Fire Prevention, Youth in Immigration, Youth in Agri-Business, Youth in Health Extension, Youth in Waste and Sanitation, Youth in Paid Internship, Youth in Community Teaching Assistants, Youth in Trades and Vocation, Youth in Eco-Brigade and Youth in Information Communication Technology.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports on Thursday evening organized a sendoff dinner for the visiting, Zambia Minister of Youth and Sports, Chishimba Kambwili. The minister and his team were in Ghana mainly to familiarize themselves of The Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA), of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ghana.
