Chilubi District Commissioner, Boniface Kamanda, has warned of stern action against people who are reportedly tarnishing the name of the Government and people in the district through the social media.

Mr Kamanda said his office has been receiving a lot of complaints from community members about some people who are allegedly sending concocted stories on face book and ZNBC’s Bemba Programme called ifyabu Kaya about Chilubi district.

The District Commissioner said this in a statement to ZANIS in Chilubi district May 14th.

He said there is an escalating trend of sending unfounded reports by a certain group of people in the area with the aim to put the name of people in the district into disrepute.

Mr Kamanda added that recently a certain group of people posted false information on face book accusing one of the sensitive government departments in the area of failing to execute its duties.

The DC further advised people in the area to use the social media for developing the area and not for retrogression.

Mr Kamanda said he will soon engage security wings in the area to curb down such perpetrators, adding that whoever will be found wanting will face the wrath of the law.

He observed that if the same trend continues it is not only going to affect the people in the district but government as a whole.
