Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Minister, Yamfwa Mukanga says the 30th June, 2014 deadline to finalize the re-introduction of a national airline still stands.

Mr. Mukanga has told QFM News in an interview that the committee constituted to look into the matter will soon issue a memo to Cabinet for approval of the re-introduction of the national airline.

Mr. Mukanga says a lot has been done towards meeting the June deadline.

He has since expressed hope that Cabinet will react quickly and positively to the memo so that a national flag carrier can be re-introduced by next month.

Mr. Mukanga says government will not relax but will continue working towards the reintroduction of an effective airline that will contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth.

He notes that the absence of a national airline has negatively affected the development of tourism sector, non-traditional exports and other industries that directly or indirectly rely on tourism.

  1. How sure are you that this airline will open? If it does that would be the best thing that’s ever!!

    • I meant to say that it would be the best thing that could ever happen…it would be a great change if zambia had to get their own planes:)
