Constitution making process an exercise in futility – Mpombo

0
Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President George Mpombo has charged that the Patriotic Front (PF) government’s hypocrisy over the constitution has rendered the current constitution making process an exercise in futility.

Dr. Mpombo says cosmetic measures the PF government applying to buy time on the enactment of a new constitution before 2016 has created is a situation he has likened to a barber’s chair syndrome which has also trapped the constitution making process.

He says this is in view of the continued contradictory positions by government with regards the release of the final draft constitution.

Mr. Mpombo has told Qfm News in a telephone interview that the current state of constitution making process will not yield any results.

He says he suspects the ruling PF is also aware that giving Zambians a new constitution is tantamount to putting itself in a self political Immortalization.

Mr. Mpombo says this is why anyone expecting to meet President Michael Sata on the issue of the Constitution amounts to expecting to attract water from a rock.
