AFRICOUTURE Clothing Line last Saturday held a fashion show at Lusaka’s Taj Pamodzi Hotel where they exhibited creative pieces of African costumes.

Show goers were treated to visually stimulating costumes for every occasion, and how the audience loved the show!
Having had participated in One Fashion Gala, Zambia Fashion Week and Trends of a decade, Africouture designs are inspired by shape and architectural colour.
Owner of Africouture Clothing Line, Martha Kabaso, seeks to create designs that will bring out elegance with an African touch.
Kabaso told Weekend Mail that, “We love how this particular collection (Chitenge fabrics) incorporates and highlights the ethnicity of the Zambian culture.”
“I want to open a designing school in order to boost the fashion industry in Zambia,” she said.
Kabaso is one designer who brings out the versatility and artistic nature of fashion.
She enjoys making modern designs and looks to set her own  fashion trends rather than mimicking the works of other people.
Kabaso designs costumes for all shapes and sizes as well as outfits for special occasions such as weddings and kitchen parties among others. Her costumes are colourful and well-tailored.
“I love to bring new designs and create clothes to flatter different figures,” she said.
At the fashion show held at Pamodzi Hotel, Clothing Line displayed a wide variety of chitenge outfits that brought out the distinct beauty of Zambian culture.
Powered by Sign-wave, Andy-work Technologies and Phinisa Body Spur, Clothing Line aims at promoting African fashion by stimulating people’s interest in beautiful and unique designs, especially those of Zambian origin.
The exhibition attracted a fair crowd and attendees enjoyed music from Mukuka, Agozed and Future 101.
