The Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) has observed that the agenda for the constitution indaba proposed by the Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) lacks content.

ZEC Spokesperson Father Paul Samasumo said in an interview that SACCORD should have considered meeting the stakeholders for dialogue before coming up with the idea of the indaba.

Father Samasumo explained that the church welcomes all programs that promote dialogue and unity among all Zambians, and that the constitution indaba is a good idea and must be commended by all Zambians.

He however said it would have been good if SACCORD engaged all stakeholders including the sixteen opposition political parties that decided to shun the indaba and share with them what was to be on the agenda.

Fr. Samasumo has since maintained that the draft constitution should be released to the Zambian people.

And Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) General Secretary Reverend Suzanne Matale says the position of CCZ on the constitution indaba will be made known to the public before the actual date.
