Government has called on Church Mother bodies to strictly scrutinize Pastors in the country in order to protect unsuspecting members of the public from imposters.

Speaking during the official opening of the Inter denominational national Pastors workshop in Lusaka today, Home Affairs Minister, Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula says government is aware of some churches that are not compliant with the requirement of laws such as submitting annual returns with the Registrar of Societies.

Dr. Simbyakula says government is also aware of some church leaders that have tarnished the image of the church by conducting themselves at variance with the Christian teachings.

Dr. Simbyakula adds that government attaches great importance to the partnership with the church in resolving various social challenges the people face.

He says the church has always been a source of hope, solace, a mirror of good morals and unity for any community of people.

Dr. Simbyakula has since appealed to church leaders to preach peace, unity and love to the people and members of the various congregations.
