Former army officer dabbed for drug trafficking

–The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested a retired Zambia Army Officer in Western Province for tracking in 35 kilograms of cannabis.

Brian Kaunu 55 of Kamwala Township in Serenje district has been arrested and jointly charged with Anderson Kasungu 29, a taxi driver of Dambwa North in Livingstone.

Drug Enforcement Commissioner Assistant Public Relations Officer, Chibu Tembo, told ZANIS in Lusaka today that the duo was arrested in Nakatindi area along the Sesheke-Livingstone road.

And Ms Tembo has disclosed that four prisoners of Nchelenge state prison have been arrested within the prison for being in possessing of 58 balls of cannabis weighing 69 grams.

Meanwhile, the DEC has arrested three peasant farmers of Kanatela village in Pemba district for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 502 kilograms.

Ms Tembo said all the suspects will appear in court soon.
