PRESIDENT SATA HOLDS BILATERAL TALKS

His Excellency, Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata, President of the Republic of Zambia, yesterday held a bilateral meeting with the Director General of the Food Agricultural Organisation (FAO) Dr. Jose Graziano Da Silva.

The meeting discussed several aspects of FAO’s contribution to national, regional and world efforts to improve food security and other related matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, President Sata invited Dr. Da Silva to Zambia for an on-the-spot check of the various programmes FAO was supporting in the country.

The Head of State emphasised that a visit to Zambia and engagements with local technocrats was the only practical way that would assist FAO to appreciate the situation on the ground and tailor specific programmes for the country.

And Dr. Da Silva expressed gratitude to President Sata for the efforts being made to achieve mutual cooperation and benefit between Zambia and FAO.

Earlier, President Sata met Roll-Back Malaria Partnership Executive Director Dr. Fatoumata Nafo- Traore.

The President informed Dr. Nafo- Traore that Zambia has made significant strides and invited the Partnership to visit the country and work with relevant agencies to contribute to the fight against Malaria.

And Dr. Nafo- Traore applauded the efforts already made by the Zambian Government and committed to visiting Zambia and making resources and their vast experience available to supplement Government efforts.

Both meetings where attended by Foreign Affairs minister Hon. Wylbur Simusa, Agriculture minister Hon. Robert Sichinga and Zambian Ambassador to Ethiopia Susan Sikaneta.
