Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health (MCDMCH) has given cheques to two women clubs in Zambezi district under the women empowerment fund to enable them conduct various business ventures.

Speaking during the handover of K5,000 cheques each to Ndeke and Nyaizaza women’s clubs yesterday, Zambezi District Administrative Officer (DAO) Sombo Chiteta urged the women to put the funds into good use.

Mrs Chiteta noted that women and children were regarded as the most vulnerable groups in society hence the need for government and other stakeholders to empower them with such initiatives.

She has however applauded the current government for decentralizing the policy of empowering women through such funds.

Mrs Chiteta has expressed gratitude to government for considering the plight of the vulnerable, women and children in the country through the empowerment and Social Cash Transfer Funds.

Mrs Chiteta further called on all women who had not registered under the women empowerment fund to do so adding that it was the only solution for them to be independent.

And speaking after receiving the K5,000 cheque on behalf her club, Ndeke women’s club, Chairperson, Chisengo Kapende expressed gratitude to government for considering the welfare of women in rural areas.

Mrs Kepende disclosed that she would ensure that her club puts the funds into good use as it is a caring gesture coming from government.
