Zamtel unveils K250, 000 Nc’wala ceremony package

The Zambia Telecommunications Company (Zamtel) has unveiled a K250, 000 sponsorship package and a cash donation of K100, 000 towards the holding of the Nc’wala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni people of Eastern Province.

Zamtel Chief Marketing Officer Evans Muhanga unveiled the sponsorship package to the national organising committee of the Nc’wala traditional ceremony in Lusaka on Jan 27th.

Mr. Muhanga said there was need to financially support traditional ceremonies in the country because such ceremonies were one way of preserving the culture of the country.

He said traditional ceremonies were a platform where people share and trace their historical roots hence the need to ensure that they were fully supported.

He said it was in this vein that Zamtel has resolved to remain committed to supporting traditional ceremonies in the country.

Mr. Muhanga said Zamtel was eager to preserve the culture hence its exhibition of the cooperate social responsibility through donating to traditional ceremonies.

And Nc’wala national organising committee chairman Noel Nkoma disclosed that his group has so far raised a total of K350, 000 out of the K600, 000 total budget.

Mr. Nkoma said this year’s Nc’wala ceremony would be special as it would mark 31 years of chief Mpezeni’s rule as paramount chief of the Ngoni speaking people.

This year’s Nc’wala tradition ceremony will take place on the 22nd February at Mtenguleni in Chipata district.
