Lunatic hacks two to death, two hospitalized
Livingstone, January 27, ZANIS——– A 24 year old man of Livingstone suspected to be mentally ill has hacked four men who sustained serious injuries while two died.
Hanyinde Sitongani of Siankalumba Village in Livingstone is said to have attacked the four men using a hoe around 20:00 hours on Saturday, January 25.
Southern Province Police Commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed the development to ZANIS in Livingstone today.
Ms Katanga named the victim who died on the spot as Maxwell Chimamu aged 50 while those who are admitted to the Livingstone General Hospital are Ernest Phiri 34, Gray Mwazwanga 42 and Thomas Mutambo 27 all of the same address in Livingstone.
She however, said Mr Phiri died in the early hours of Sunday while Mr Mwazwanga and Mr Mutambo are still hospitalized.
Ms Katanga further disclosed that the suspect Sitongani is in police custody at Libuyu police station and that more details concerning the matter will follow as the investigation is still in progress.
