—–Education Deputy Minister, Patrick Ngoma, has warned education authorities in provinces and districts not to divert funds meant for school projects to allowances.

Mr Ngoma said the ministry will not condone any province or district which will be found diverting money meant for projects to payment of allowances for officers.

Mr Ngoma said it has been noted that most projects were not progressing because money was being channelled to allowances by some officers at the ministry headquarters.

He said the ministry has since decided to be sending project funds directly to provinces and districts in order for them to implement the projects fully.

Mr Ngoma, therefore, called for prudence in the utilisation of the money meant for infrastructural development especially in rural areas which still have a high number of pole and mud schools.

He issued the warniing in Solwezi yesterday when he addressed members of staff at the District Education Board Secretary’s office.

Mr Ngoma also implored Human Resource Officers to help teachers deliver by treating them with respect and attending to problems brought to the offices adequately and promptly.
