Government has said a dynamic and hyper turbulent Information Communication and Technology (ICT) sector was vital in the delivery of services to the public.

Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Yamfwa Mukanga said the widespread use of ICTs was a catalyst for development across all sectors of the economy.

Mr. Mukanga said in a speech ready on his behalf by his deputy minister Mwimba Malama that ICTs require an effective regulatory environment that promotes a sustainable development of the communication sector.

He said this during the official launch of Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) Service Charter that provides members of the general public with the right to hold the authority accountable for dissatisfactory services.

And speaking earlier, ZICTA Board Chairperson Emmanuel Musonda said the charter would enable his institution to be more aggressive, more visible and proactive in its service delivery in order to give value for money to the Zambian people.

Mr. Musonda said in a speech ready for him by ZICTA Director-General Margret Mudenda that the authority has committed itself to serving the Zambian people.
