Mitete District Commissioner says women are the most vulnerable in society hence government resolve to prioritize their needs.

Mr Teddy Chimbinde said this when he presented a K10,000 cheque from the Ministry of Community Development to Ngongo Women’s Club this morning.

The DC stated that government is committed to helping women improve their welfare as they are the ones that face many challenges in life.

Mr Chimbinde said government has helped Ngongo Women Club by giving them money to come up with income generating projects which will help sustain their livelihood.

Mr. Chimbinde cautioned the club to put the money to good use and consider themselves lucky as there are women clubs that have not benefitted from the funding.

The DC further advised the women not to bring issues of politics in their club but to work together with others despite which party they belong to.

Mr Chimbinde has since urged the community to form clubs in order to benefit from the national cake as they are only allowed to form clubs of 10 members.

And receiving the check Ngongo Women’s Club chairperson Fridah Taulu thanked Government for considering the club even when there are many other clubs which are in near need of the money .

And Acting District Community Development Officer Matildah Mwanza thanked Government for releasing the money to Ngongo Women’s Club saying it will help alleviate poverty in their respective communities.

She further said that the Ministry of Community Development  will be monitoring the beneficiaries in order to ensure they were utilizing the money properly.
