Government has been urged to dismiss all striking health workers who have defied a directive to return to work.

Zambian Youth Association in the Fight Against Corruption (ZYAFAC) Executive Director Rickson Kanema has also called on President Michael Sata to fire Health Minister Joseph Kasonde for failing to prevail over the striking health workers.

Mr Kanema says the dismissal of the striking nurses will serve as a deterrent to those who engage in illegal strikes.

He says it is clear that the striking health workers are putting money first at the expense of saving human life, hence the need for government to dismiss them with immediate effect.

And Mr Kanema says it is clear that the Health Minister no longer commands the respect of the health workers who have refused to heed to his directives.

He calls on president Sata to dismiss the Minister stating that he has shown that he no capacity to handle the prevailing situation in the health sector.
