Senior Local Court magistrate arrested

The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a Senior Local Court magistrate at the Lusaka Boma Local Court for alleged corrupt practices involving K5, 000.00.

Kaputo Modest N’gandwe,43, of House No. 14700/M Libala South in Lusaka was arrested yesterday 9th October 2013 and charged with corrupt practices by public officer contrary to Section 19 (1) as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

ACC Corporate Affairs officer Jonathan Siame explains that details are that on unknown dates but between 1st and 19th September 2013, N’gandwe, jointly and whilst acting together with other unknown persons corruptly solicited for a sum of K5, 000.00 and actually received K1, 500.00 cash gratification from a certain Mr. Mwaba Munkondya as a reward or inducement for N’gandwe to pass judgment in Munkondya’s favour.

This was in a divorce matter before the Local Court that was being presided over by N’gandwe.
He has since been released on Bond and will appear in Court on 25th October 2013.
