THE Zambia Sevens squad yesterday put up an impressive performance at the ongoing Safaricom Sevens Rugby tournament to defeat Botswana by three points in the second round of Pool A games played in Kenya.

Zambia opened the competition on a low note, going down 5-20 to the Western Bulls of Kenya in their Pool A opener at the Moi International Sports Centre in Karasani.

But the Zambians emerged stronger in their second match and brightened their hopes of a top flight finish after subduing neighbouring Botswana.

Zambia was pitted in Pool A alongside Kenya Morans, losing finalists at last year’s competition, Botswana and Western Bulls.

The Zambians will have to replicate their second game performance to beat Kenya Morans.

The two-day annual Kenya Safaricom Rugby Sevens comes to an end today.
