A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl has allegedly been murdered by her father who has since fled.
It is alleged that last Saturday, Mr Chileshe hit his daughter with a plank on the head after the two had a misunderstanding.
Mr Hamoonga appealed to Chileshe to avail himself to Chawama police to help with investigations.
Arrangements for a postmortem before burial could take place were being made, he said.
The girl’s body was taken to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary.
Meanwhile, five people have in the past three days died in separate road traffic accidents.
In Eastern Province, a man of Mafuta Village died when he sustained fatal injuries in an accident.
Anthala Green died on the spot when a Toyota Hiace minibus he was travelling in careered off the road and overturned.
Kelvin Mwape and 23-year-old Peter Sikanyika, both of Lusaka, died after they were hit by motor vehicles in separate incidents on the Great North Road in Katuba area.
Mr Mwape of Katuba died on September 8, after he was hit by a Mitsubishi Prado while standing on a pavement along the road.
Mr Sikanyika, also of Katuba, died on the spot after he was hit by an oncoming vehicle while trying to cross the road.
The drivers in both incidents were arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving and would appear in court soon.
In another incident, 49-year-old Blessing Nawa of Lusaka and Kawana Nganga, 41, of Western Province died after being hit by motor vehicles.
Mr Nawa died after being run over by a Toyota Hiace minibus on Mungwi Road while Nganga met his fate when he was crossing a road and died at Lewanika General Hospital.
