Nakambala’s Mike Siazilo crowned Kumite champion

MIKE Siazilo was at the weekend crowned Kumite senior division champion after winning the Zambia Sugar sponsored National Shotokan Karate tournament held at the Nakambala Community Hall.

Siazilo of Nakambala Club defeated Jimmy Mubiana of Kitwe’s Power Academy in an exciting final battle watched by a capacity crowd.

To qualify for the finals, Siazilo trounced his clubmate Evaristo Mwambwa in the semis while Mubiana defeated Danniel Sinyangwe of Kamuchanga Club of Mufulira.

Sinyangwe, was however consoled after claiming third position with victory over Mwambwa.

In the Kata category, Marvin Phiri of Kamuchanga emerged winner as he demonstrated good fighting skills while Sinyangwe got the second slot with Siazilo this time around finishing third.

It was an all Nakambala affair in the Kumite junior category finals as Cryton Ng’andu emerged winner over Maago Mweemba while Cosmus Mubiana of Power settled for the third position.

Ng’andu added another title in the Kata division as he scooped the first position while Edify Munakombala and Raymond Zulu both of Nakambala managed second and third respectively.

In the sub-junior division, Nakambala dominated the show again as seven-year-old Luyanda Mulala grabbed first positions in the Kumite and Kata categories.

Mulala overpowered Brian Milimo in a thrilling fight which exhibited potential talent in the young martial artists.

Aaron Kapusa got the third prize while Osward Chiyota and Mate Siambulo finished second and third respectively in the Kata.
