Sino Hydro project Manager Hezhao Min says the rehabilitation and upgrading of Siavonga High School, a project funded by ZESCO at the cost of US $ 8.4 million will finally be completed by October this year.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS on May 13th, Mr Min said he was impressed with the rate at which the works were progressing adding that about 52 buildings have since been built.
“The 52 buildings that we have built so far includes a dining hall, kitchen, assembly hall, two ablution blocks , 13 teacher’s houses, a library, four 1x 3 classroom blocks, 1×3 computer laboratories and eight hostels, ” he said.
Mr Min said the most important remaining thing was to put up a water reticulation system within the school premises.
He also disclosed that 94 computers have been donated to Siavonga High School by Sino Hydro Company as part of its social responsibility to the community.
Meanwhile residents of Siavonga have thanked government for its commitment to deliver its promises to improve the welfare of the youths and the standard of education in the district.
The residents also commended ZESCO for the gesture saying that the power utility company has from time to time been an integral partner in many areas of development in the social-economic landscape of Siavonga district.
