—The Patriotic Front (PF) government will soon build strategic secondary schools in each chiefdom in Kabompo district aimed at encouraging more girls to go to school and curb early marriages.

Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education Minister, John Phiri, revealed this when he addressed officers in the ministry of education in Kabompo district yesterday.

Dr Phiri said the schools will have names related to chiefs in order to allow chiefs play a leading role in the education of the girl child and stop unwanted pregnancies and early marriages among girls.

He said government is overwhelmed but not over burdened by the work of rehabilitating dilapidated school infrastructure in the country.

Dr Phiri said the PF government will gradually rehabilitate dilapidated school infrastructure countrywide and appealed to teachers in the 72 schools in the district to work hard and upgrade themselves in order to deliver quality education to the pupils.
