ZAMBIAN striker Collins Mbesuma yesterday, scored twice to secure 3-1 victory for his club Orlando Pirates against TP Mazembe of Congo DR in the first leg of the CAF Champions league match played in Johannesburg.

The Pirates opened their first in second minute through Onyekachi Okonkwo. But TP Mazembe came in to level the score line through striker Patou Kabangu at halftime it was 1 – 1.

In the 57th minute Mbesuma who was on high form saw the back of the net to put his club ahead. The Zambian striker recorded his second goal through a penalty after he was brought down by TP Mazembe’s Goalkeeper just in extra time.

Orlando Pirates dominated the game against TP Mazembe which has six of Zambian players in the team. Midfielder Rainford Kalaba and defender Hichani Himonde played the whole 90 minutes while Nathan Sinkala, a midfielder came in as a substitute in the 66th minute.

The results  means that Pirates will just need a draw when they play return match in two weeks time to qualify and exit TP Mazembe from the tournament.

Two weeks earlier Mbesuma said in an interview that he will put his friendship aside when Pirates face Mazembe which has a horde of Zambian players.
Mbesuma admitted that it would be an emotional game for him just like it was against Zanaco but he still had to do his job to qualify his team to the group stage of the CAF Champions’ league.
