Two Chinese nationals hacked by robbers

Two Chinese nationals are nursing serious wounds sustained after they were attacked by armed robbers at AST Cotton Company in Chipata district in Eastern Province.

Deputy Eastern Division Police Commissioner Alfred Nawa disclosed this morning when Provincial Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Mwamba visited Michael Cheng and Evan Liam who are admitted at Chipata General Hospital that the two were in the early hours hacked by robbers who were armed with machetes in Chipata motel area.
Mr Nawa said the two put up a fight before they were injured in the incident which was reported around 3:00 hours this morning.

The Police Chief disclosed that the assailants were also injured and appealed to health authorities in the province to report suspicious injured people who may seek attention at any health facility.

He stated that the police would do everything possible to ensure that the three culprits who were on the run  were brought to book.

He advised the Chinese nationals to maximize security at their plant where they were also residing.

And Mr. Mwamba expressed concern that such acts were a threat to the much needed investment in the province.

Mr. Mwamba advised the police to intensify investigations and bring to book the people behind criminal activities in the province which he said had risen.

He assured the Chinese investors that government would ensure the protection of all foreign investors in the province.
